Last weekend, Melbourne was the host of the Asia-Pacific Ironman Triathlon. They had 70 spots for the BIG triathlon in Kona.
We went down to St. Kilda to see them run in the last leg. The spirit of the crowd was incredible, cheering and hi-fiving the runners as they were coming in - a much different experience from the
Melbourne Marathon.

Last 150m of the Asia-Pacific Ironman. |
We saw the many folks come in, from the third professional male, the first professional woman, and many non-professional athletes. It started at 7am and they had until midnight to finish...I can't imagine doing anything for that long in one day, let alone a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride, and a 42.2km run.

Finisher who was trotting in like he had just run a 5k. Amazing. |
What an awesome display of athleticism. Congrats to everyone who gave it a go!
