A Training Mission Covering a Continent

i recently embarked on an epic journey across Australia (country and continent for those fact checking) on a quest to train it's people on the finer points of constructing the ultimate in pressure dispersion devices (PDDs) intent on enhancing the rejuvenation process.  though it may look like what common folk refer to as a "mattress", these PDDs possess revolutionary technologies suitable for only the most privileged amongst us.

forget it.  they're just mattresses.  totally made up the PDDs thing.  they have "new" technology to Australia which means it's been in the US for a decade.  but they look cool and they're charging more for them then most people think about spending on a car so I was off to Brisbane and Perth to train.  yada yada yada ... the training went well.

so first the city of Brisbane.  i really don't have much to say about it.  we didn't get out much.  it's a big city.  didn't seem to have much going for it or much life to it.  there is a big enough asian population to require signs to have chinese or japanese on them ... i'm assuming.  i can't tell the difference, just going with percentages that it's one of those two.  there are bats the size of hawks that fly by the point hotel on kangaroo point while you're out on the deck at 6:00 having a few beers before heading out for dinner that really ruin the serenity of the sun setting behind the city as traffic slowly filters over the story bridge and river taxis cruise by wakeless .... HUGE BATS!  and, you may not have caught that, but yes the sun is setting at 6:00 because it up at 4:15am.  that should be announced when you land so you know to completely close every bit of window covering in your hotel room.

Brisbane.  Story Bridge to the right.
left Brissy after the good part of a week and then on to Perth the following week.  Perth is my kind of town and we were lucky enough to get to cruise around a bit.  it's a small big city with a very relaxed culture, 20 minutes from what many argue are the best beaches in Australia, and parks/greenspace everywhere with people actually using them.  we stayed at the casino resort near the city.  i only mention that to mention that we won enough betting on dogs to buy two extra rounds.  it's the only time i've been a part of winning anything in a casino.  easy come, easy go.  the last day we bailed early from the plant to head to Fremantle (Freo) and the beaches on the coast.  not much to cover other than perhaps the greatest sign i've ever seen.  check the pictures.

Perth
I don't know what this is.  Thought it looked cool.

Evidence the HOLLYWOOD sign was a private endeavor.  PERTH went to the low bidder (center of the picture).

Not the funny sign.  Apparently used to be a feat pulling into port.

Fishin' Boats - Freo Harbor

The sign.  Plastered all over support posts around the docks of Freo.  It's not Sit On You ... but close.

Scarborough Beach

Good waves and notably clean.

Surfing at sunset.
